素 ﹣ “so”, “su”,”moto”

Category: Language

The Kanji (Chinese character) 素 “su” can be read as “so”, “su” or “moto” as seen in combinations with other Kanjis like; “素顏 (sugao)” for “being natural”, “素手 (sude)” for “bare”, “sozai (sozai)” for “origin”, “soboku (soboku)” that means “simple”, and others such as 素地 (soji), 素性(sujyou), 元素(genso) and 素行(soko). These meanings embody our founding principles and remind us of our roots 100 years ago.
